About

Everyone has a unique journey. No matter where you are in that journey, the right strategy can help you reach your goals and create less anxiety in your life.

NICE TO MEET YOU

I'm Paul Dooley

After years of relentless overthinking, I learned how to calm my nervous system and rebuild daily habits that stick. I didn’t start as a therapist or creator—I started as someone stuck in worry. Through practical tools, study, and coaching, I turned that struggle into a repeatable system for steady days.

Now I help busy adults make calm their default. I’ll show you how to untangle anxious thoughts, train your body to settle, and practice small skills that compound—so you can think clearly, act confidently, and enjoy more life.

Podcasting

I love podcasting because it feels like a calm, kitchen-table chat. Since 2008 I’ve shared short, practical episodes to help people stress less and live more.

Writing

My writing turns complexity into clarity. I craft blog posts and guides that strip away jargon and focus on real, actionable steps.

Coaching

I’m drawn to coaching because change sticks best with a partner. We turn insight into small weekly habits—with therapist-backed tools and real accountability.

My Story

My first panic attack hit in 1998 and sent me into years of worry and avoidance. I learned the science of anxiety and what actually helps. In 2008 I launched Anxiety Guru to share those tools. That work led me to grad school and licensure; I’ve been a therapist for 10+ years. My approach blends evidence-based skills (CBT, gradual exposure, mindful breathing) with acceptance—heavily inspired by Dr. Claire Weekes. I teach simple, repeatable habits that build self-trust so you can live more freely, even when anxiety shows up.

Why I Do It

I help others with anxiety because I know exactly what it feels like. It can be overwhelming, isolating, and hard to explain to people who haven’t been through it. You might feel like something is wrong with you, or that no one truly understands what you're going through.

I’ve been there—and I also know that healing is possible. With the right tools, support, and perspective, you can overcome anxiety. And when you do, life opens up. You feel more present, more capable, and more free.

That’s why I do this work. Because everyone deserves a better quality of life—not just one without anxiety, but one filled with clarity, connection, and calm.
